Controlled-Release Nitrogen That Responds to Temperature — Feeding Your Lawn When It's Ready to Grow.

Shaw's 30-0-6 50% PCU offers a distinct approach to controlled-release nitrogen through Polymer Coated Urea (PCU) technology — a proven, widely used slow-release mechanism where nitrogen release is primarily governed by soil temperature. As soil warms in spring and summer, the PCU coating becomes more permeable and releases nitrogen faster; as soil cools in fall, release slows naturally. This creates an intuitive alignment between nitrogen delivery and turf growth demand — feeding heavier when the grass is growing actively, and slowing down as growth naturally tapers.

PCU is a different technology from Shaw's SurfCote, which releases primarily in response to moisture. Both are polymer-coated urea products, but PCU's temperature-driven mechanism makes it particularly well-suited for seasonal programs in regions with distinct spring/summer/fall temperature patterns.

The 30-0-6 analysis provides strong nitrogen feeding (30%) with good potassium (6%) support — comparable to Shaw's 30-0-6 SurfCote Step 4, but with the PCU delivery mechanism instead.

For customers familiar with PCU products from other manufacturers, Shaw's 30-0-6 PCU delivers the same trusted technology through Knox's professional manufacturing and Champion Mulch's distribution network.
